The grounds of Château Bouynot
On the elegant estate of the 19th century Château Bouynot, two renovated traditional homes are available for self-catering rentals. Both are set at a distance from the Château where the owners live, and guests enjoy privacy and independence. Each of the properties has its own 10x5 metre swimming pool, heated from May to October.

The seven-hectare (17-acre) estate is filled with pine trees and set among rolling hills, vineyards and fields. Each of the rental properties has its own garden planted with flower beds and trees. The homes are heated by environmentally-conscious geothermal systems.

La Grange is a is a classic 18th century Lot-et-Garonne stone farmhouse, fully renovated in a blend of the contemporary and traditional. Four large bedrooms over two floors comfortably accomodate eight guests.

Le Séchoir is a 19th century cathedral-like wooden building, originally made as a place to dry tobacco leaves. Converted into a two-storey modern home, its three bedrooms take up to six guests.

This classic 18th century stone farmhouse is fully renovated in a blend of the contemporary and traditional. Behind the house is a private 10x5 metre pool, terraced with a shaded dining area and sunbeds.

A large, fully equipped kitchen featuring a stately fireplace opens on a dining room with seating for up to ten guests. The spacious living room is decorated in a combination of contemporary and classical French styles. Among the facilities to enjoy are a billiards table, deep couches and armchairs, an entertainment centre with a stereo, CD player, and television, and free wireless internet.

Two of the four bedrooms are on the ground floor. Each has two large single beds and doors opening directly onto the garden. These two bedrooms are separated by an ample bathroom with a double wash basin and a wide Italian-style shower.

Upstairs are the two master bedrooms, each with a double bed and a couch and serene views over the grounds. Each of the master bedrooms has its own ensuite bathroom with toilet.

This 19th century cathedral-like wooden building was originally a place to dry tobacco leaves and has been converted into a two-storey modern home. In front of the house is the private 10x5 metre pool, surrounded by a wooden deck with a shaded dining area and sunbeds.

On the ground floor, a high-ceilinged open-plan living area is furnished with sofas and armchairs in the style of Louis-Philippe, a wood-mantled Basque fireplace, and an entertainment centre with a stereo, CD player, and television, with free wireless internet access.

The dining area can seat up to eight in comfort. Next to it is a fully equipped contemporary kitchen.

Each of the three bedrooms has its own ensuite bathroom. Two are upstairs and one downstairs. Each has a pair of single beds which can be converted, on request, into a king-size double bed. The tall and narrow windows on the south side of the house overlook the surrounding pine forest.

The village of Meilhan-sur-Garonne, 12 kilometres from Château Bouynot, offers a grocery, butcher, bakery, restaurant, pub, post office, and doctor. Tennis courts can be booked by the hour.

The village is on the Canal de Garonne, the continuation of the Canal du Midi which connects the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. The towpath that runs alongside the canal provides miles of safe and level cycling, jogging, and walking under the shade of the plane trees.

Several hiking trails criss-cross the area around Château Bouynot. A short walk from the house is the pony club at Noaillac, where horse-riding trips can be arranged. An 18 hole golf course is available at Casteljaloux (20 kilometres away).

Château Bouynot is located at the border of the Gironde and Lot et Garonne districts, a convenient starting point for numerous cultural and historical trips.

Plan a visit to the vineyards and châteaux of the Sauternais area (20 minutes away) or the medieval city of St-Emilion (45 minutes).

Bordeaux, a 40 minute drive, is a UNESCO World Heritage site for its 18th century centre. Children will enjoy a day out at the Walabi amusement park. And don’t miss the opportunity to discover the local wines, produce, and foie gras, at the weekly farmers’ markets at Marmande and Bazas.
