About the Holiday Home

The living room in Maison Principale
The living room in Maison Principale
Coat Aillis is a converted farmstead on the beautiful north coast of Brittany, surrounded by a hectare (two acres) of gardens and orchards and set in an idyllic landscape of fields and woods. It's just a couple of minutes' drive to the beach, or one can walk there through woods and countryside. The farmstead of Coat Aillis was built about 200 years ago from local stone in the traditional Breton style. The farmhouse, barns, and outbuildings have been carefully converted into holiday homes. Each building still has its rustic character but enjoy many modern conveniences.

The owners, Simon and Paulien and their family, live on site and love to welcome visitors to Coat Aillis. They're always ready to give advice on where to eat, which beaches to explore, which markets to visit, and any other information. There are many things to do on the property: there's the 12x6 metre heated pool, which is walled and gated to keep children safe and has a new all-weather cover, so one can swim regardless of the weather; there's also a family sauna built of red cedar, a children's play area, a boules court, a football area, a meditation corner, and private gardens with beautiful flower beds and garden furniture. The local road rarely sees more than one or two cars per hour, and in the distance, there's just fields, woods, and the occasional house or farm building.
Special features: • Pool on the property
• Pets welcomed
• Bilingual assistance available on site
• Credit cards accepted
Swimming pool: 12 x 6 metre outdoor heated pool with all weather cover

    About the Area

    Lannion
    Lannion
Coat Aillis is situated in idyllic and tranquil countryside. It's a two minute drive to the beach, or one can get there by a twenty minute stroll through woods and countryside, where there is an abundance of hiking trails. There are also many biking trails and back roads which give scenic views of the sea. There is a sailing school a short distance away, where boats, sailboards and yachts can be hired, and there's a riding stable for those who wish to explore the countryside on horseback. There are plenty of quality restaurants around. The local village, Plestin les Grèves, is a five minute drive from Coat Ailliso, and has a range of services - there's a good supermarket, two banks, a doctor, a pharmacy, three boulangeries, tabacs, and the bureau de poste. Every Sunday, there is a large street market in Plestin les Grèves, which is a great way to stock up on local produce for the start of your holiday.

    About the Region

    Sable Blanc
    Sable Blanc
Côte d'Armor is a northern département of Brittany, with stunning coastlines interspersed with unspoilt little fishing ports. The Breton culture is still very strong, with the older generation still speaking the language, and the music and dance traditions strongly maintained. Brittany's unique parish closes can be found around the region. These extraordinary complexes of church, triumphal arch, charnel house, and carved crucifix, are often on such a scale as to dwarf the surrounding houses in the small villages in which they stand. There are plenty of interesting day trips to make. Lannion (12 km) is an old town, but is a thriving centre for telecommunication research, and has a branch of Rennes university. Also visit the Côte Granite Rosé, where the pink granite coastline features amazing rock formations. The rugged Morlaix estuary is also worth visiting, as is the town of Huelgoat, which has a beautiful lake and a haunting grotto. Also consider exploring Brittany's stunning coastline from the sea, with one of the many boat trips available locally.
