About the Property
The swimming pool
The swimming pool
Daramousque is an old farmstead surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens with a large salt-water swimming pool, set in the countryside of Tarn-et-Garonne. The property consists of a maison de maître — a country manor house — and two converted stone barns, the Villa and the Cottage. The three-bedroom Villa can accommodate up to six guests, while up to four can stay in the two bedrooms of the Cottage. The owners live on site in the manor house; they are always happy to help, and otherwise fully respect their guests’ privacy.
The gardens in the morning mist
The gardens in the morning mist
The houses are set in about 14 hectares (35 acres) of lawns, flowering shrubs, fields and woodland with views over rolling farmland looking south towards the Pyrénées. An old pigeonnier is a particularly attractive feature of the gardens, which are home to an abundance of colourful birds and butterflies. Buzzards and other birds of prey soar overhead, and deers are frequent visitors to the surrounding fields. A children’s play area with slide, swings and other toys is located a short distance from the pool.

The 14m x 7m salt water pool is both fenced and fitted with an alarm system for your security, and is surrounded by a paved area equipped with sun-umbrellas, loungers, and a freshwater shower.

Special features: • Pool on the property
Swimming pool: Saltwater pool, 14m x 7m, fenced in and alarmed for security

About the Area
The nearby village of Monclar-de-Quercy
The nearby village of Monclar-de-Quercy
Monclar-de-Quercy is a typical small French village, with a central square that hosts a weekly market, a pretty church, a new supermarket, a pharmacy, and a choice of bakeries, restaurants and bars. The neighbouring villages offer a range of markets every day and night, selling fresh local produce, including foie gras, goose and duck confit, magret, cheeses, vegetables, fruits, meats, and wines. Particularly mouth-watering are the melons, peaches and nectarines which ripen in July and August. In September and October, the Cêpes de Vaissac, a special mushroom, are available for the discerning. The area is renowned for good food – including cassoulet, foie gras, Roquefort cheese, Noir de Bigorre ham - and fine wines.

Walking, cycling, swimming, fishing, horse riding, canoeing, golf and tennis, even microlight flying are all available nearby. The list of places to visit nearby includes museums, galleries, festivals, antique shops, vineyards and châteaux.

About the Region
The nearby bastide, or fortified village, of Puycelci
The nearby bastide, or fortified village, of Puycelci
Daramousque is just a few kilometres from some of the most beautiful bastides and medieval villages in France. Puycelci, Bruniquel and Montricoux are within twenty minutes’ drive, and just a little further are Castelnau de Montmiral and Saint Antonin Noble-Val.

Also within easy reach for a day trip are Montauban, the nearest big town, which was founded in 1144 and is the administrative centre of Tarn-et-Garonne; Gaillac, famous for its wines; Albi, with its beautiful cathedral; Moissac with its Romanesque art sites; the fabulous big city of Toulouse; and the medieval citadel of Carcassonne. The ski slopes of the Pyrénées, the beaches of the Mediterranean, and the Spanish border are all within a reasonable drive.

Guest Opinions

After a lengthy and extremely thorough search for the perfect place to stay in the south west of France, we were lucky enough to come across Daramousque. We rented The Villa for 10 days and it was sublime. Even before our arrival, the owners of the property were there to answer all of our questions and help in any way they could. Thanks Michael and Sarah for having such a peaceful, gorgeous property and for being the gracious, helpful and fun hosts that you are!
