    The nearby city of Carcassonne
The fortress city of Carcassonne is 25 minutes away. Founded by the Romans, this city has a rich medieval history and is a UNESCO world heritage site. The whole region is dotted with ancient castles and monuments, many dating from the turbulent Hundred Years’ War and the Cathar suppression of the middle ages.

The Languedoc region produces some excellent wines, and the vineyards often welcome visitors for tastings. There are two 18-hole golf courses within a half hour. The beaches of the Mediterranean and the Pyrénées mountain range are an hour away, and the Costa Brava, on Spain’s north-eastern coast, is two hours.
