Guests can relax in the beautiful gardens of the property while their children play safely. Our large property is ideal for children, with a sand pit near the houses and a play area further down the garden containing a climbing frame, slide and swings. We also have animals which the children can feed, namely rabbits, ducks and Billy the little white goat. Many children have cried when they had to go home and leave the rabbits! About the Area

The safe, sandy beach of Plougasnou, 2 km from Kerdalidec
Situated 2 minutes drive from the unspoilt sandy beach, Plougasnou is a tranquil little market village. The ancient church of St Pierre dominates the tree-lined village square in which a popular market is held every Tuesday. Kerdalidec is on the very edge of the village surrounded by fields, but is only 10 minutes walk from a boulangerie and supermarket. A further 5 minutes walk takes one to the village square with cafés, bars and restaurants. Also in the village are a tourist information centre, medical centre, pharmacy, postoffice, bank, bookshop and giftshop. The GR34 footpath runs along the coast here, and for walkers the magnificent views from the coastal path cannot be beaten.
The colourful Saturday market in nearby Morlaix
The colourful Saturday market in nearby Morlaix
The nearest large town is Morlaix, twenty minutes away. It has a picturesque port with many sailing boats and plenty of museums, art galleries and 17th century houses to visit. Also, in August, there is a highly colourful "Art in the Streets" festival, in which street theatre takes place all over the town. Further afield in Brest is the internationally famous sea world centre of Oceanopolis. In the centre of Brittany is a wild windswept moorland area which is very atmospheric and has several museums with the theme of Breton culture and nature.
About the Region
The beautiful beach at Ven Izella
The beautiful beach at Ven Izella
Finistère is a region of wild rugged coastline, silver sandy beaches and open moorland in the centre, very unspoilt by tourism. The latin name for Finistère (Finis Terrae) means 'World's end', and as it is the furthest westerly point of France it feels very different to the rest of the country. The Bretons see themselves as being very different to other French people and the Breton language is still spoken by most of the older generation.

Finistère has made a unique contribution to European architecture in the form of the parish closes. These extraordinary complexes of church, triumphal arch, charnel house and carved calvary are often on such a scale as to dwarf the surrounding houses in the small villages in which they stand. As for the fruits of the sea and the fruits of the land, Brittany is renowned for its seafood, young lamb fed on tender grass and locally grown vegetables such as globe artichokes and cauliflowers. A variety of activities are available locally, including horse riding, sailing, jet-sking, tennis, and diving.

Guest Opinions

Our 2 week stay in September 2005 fulfilled all our expectations: the Longhouse is comfortable and spacious and the beautiful garden area is safe and great for our kids who enjoyed feeding the animals and playing on the the slide and swings. The area is beautiful too with plenty of nice beaches and it is also very convenient for the Roscoff ferry. We made good use of Phil and Debby’s baby listening service and restaurant booking service! Phil and Debby are great hosts, always available to help in whatever way but not at all obtrusive. Being next to the other houses was great too as we made good friends during the time with the people staying there. We would highly recommend Kerdalidec to anyone looking for an enjoyable family holiday. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I had a delightful one week stay in October. We had many of the best things almost to ourselves and the weather was temperate. We waited for a Force 10 gale but had to settle for just Force 4 - 6 winds which made the sea and beaches even more beautiful and then came the calm which was even more delightful. The bay of Morlaix drive to Carantec is well worth it, as is the drive to the Pink Granite coast to the East. I think we sampled most of the coves and beaches along the route which took all day with fine lunches on the way. Les Embruns at Térénez nearby was superb and reasonable. Try the workmens lunches and rub shoulders with the locals. The Crèche kept us warm in front of the fire in the cold.

This was our fourth year and we enjoyed our holiday as much as ever. We brought our boat with us this year and enjoyed sailing at Térénez. No doubt we will do it again. Nice fishy meals at Café du Port in Dourduff en Mer, good crèpes at Térénez. The beach at Venizella is as perfect as ever.
Tracy and David S. - Staffordshire, UK

We stayed for the month of June. Debby is a great resource of information for things to do. Oceanopolis is great for rainy days. The rocks and forest in Huelgoat are spectacular. Ile de Batz is a great day trip too. It is a two hour drive to Carnac to see the menhirs but a great trip. We can’t say enough about this place. The kids had a wonderful time, with loads of space to run around. Thanks to Debby and her girls for making this a wonderful holiday.
Monica C. - Boise, Idaho, USA

What a Bonne Année 2009! The house was perfect for our gang of 14. The weather was great too, with crisp sunny days and a warm house for the cold nights. Morlaix is a beautifel little town with some lovely restaurants. A good time was had by all.
