About the Property
The view from La Grangette
The view from La Grangette
These three cottages are situated in the small hamlet of La Boissière, perched on a ridge above the valley of the Dordogne. Each of the cottages has an outstanding panoramic view across the countryside towards the river, two kilometres (one mile) away.

La Boissière was once a fortified medieval village, but is now a tranquil hamlet within easy reach of the many interesting sights of the Dordogne region. This quiet rural setting is in the Valley of the Châteaux, midway between Sarlat and Lalinde.

The cottages have been refurbished by the owners, and each one has its own unique character. La Grangette, the largest of the cottages, sleeps six guests in three bedrooms. La Maison Périgourdine accommodates four in two bedrooms, and the smallest, La Boulangerie, has one bedroom for two guests. Each cottage has a cot and highchair for a baby.

For group bookings, the cottages can be rented in any combination, sleeping up to 12 adults and three babies in cots.

The homes are situated separately from each other. La Grangette and La Boulangerie both have their own garden and terrace, and La Maison Périgourdine has a private terrace for sunbathing and eating outside.

The swimming pool and toddler pool
The swimming pool and toddler pool
They share the use of a large swimming pool (14m x 5m), which is long enough to swim lengths. The pool overflows into a toddler pool (4m x 3.5m).

The pool area is very secure, being surrounded by a fence with a gate and having security devices which conform to the French pool safety laws introduced in 2004. A walking trail passes by La Boissière, continues uphill and winds its way back in a circular route.

Special features: • Pool on the property
• Bilingual assistance available on site
Swimming pool: Shared 14x5 metre outdoor pool and toddler pool

About the Area
Beynac castle, a short drive from La Boissière
Beynac castle, a short drive from La Boissière
By the side of the hiking trail which runs by La Boissière, there is an information board which gives a history of the area. It highlights the two local châteaux and the medieval church, as well as the nearby Dordogne river.

Once a fortified medieval hamlet, several of the houses in the hamlet of La Boissière retain a 'cluseau', the remains of a 15th century cave dwelling, in their basement. The owners have one beneath their house and are happy to show it to their guests.

The nearest town is Siorac, just three kilometres away, followed by St-Cyprien at seven kilometres. Both towns have supermarkets, bakers, bars and restaurants, and St-Cyprien has a bank and an excellent Sunday morning market.

It’s an easy one mile walk to the Dordogne river. Canoes are available for hire, and are a great way to explore the river. The beaches at the side of the river are an ideal place to take a picnic.

Within a few minutes’ drive are an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, and bicycle hire. There are many quiet rural roads which are safe and enjoyable to cycle on.

About the Region
The nearby town of Monpazier
The nearby town of Monpazier
The hamlet is centrally situated in the southeastern Dordogne region (Périgord Noir), and there are many places of interest within a half hour’s drive. The area abounds in fortified towns and castles from the middle ages, including the flawlessly preserved medieval city of Sarlat, which hosts an excellent Saturday market; the bastide towns of Limeuil, Belves, Monpazier, Lalinde, and Domme; the châteaux of Beynac, Castelnaud, Fayrac, les Milandes & Marquessac; and the abbey at Cadouin.

The world-famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux near Montignac are within an easy drive. Les Eyzies, with its famous prehistory museum and numerous prehistoric sites, is a 15 minute drive. The nearest airport, Bergerac, is about 45 minutes away, with direct flights to and from London Stansted, Southampton, Bristol and Liverpool airports.

Brian and Julie, you have made a lovely home here. We loved it all, and hope to be back with friends.
Ralph and Ludmila B - San Francisco, U.S.A.

We've had a brilliant holiday! The girls especially loved the pool; plus Marquessac by candlelight and Rouffignac cave paintings. They want us to book for next year! And thanks for all the weather forecasts and helpful suggestions.
Richard and Isobel W. - London, U.K.

Our third visit! We enjoy the peace and the views so much! A little haven away from the 'rat race'. We will be back again.
Alan and Lesley S. - Hayes, U.K.

Dennis and Dayle B. - Auckland, New Zealand

Had a great week - the house was roomy and has great views. Weather was great. Cycled to all the sights, 50 to 60 km per day but able to see all the sights without the hassle of parking and good excercise as well. Location of the house is great - central to all the tourist spots. We absolutely loved it here and hope to come back. Thanks to Julie and Brian for being so friendly and welcoming and providing us with tips.
Shawn and Alice M. - Toronto, Canada

What a view from the terrace! A lovely place in a lovely part of the World! And the sun shone for most of the time. Our daughter loved the pool! Thank you, Brian and Julie, for a most enjoyable couple of weeks.
