About the Property

Maison Merry is a fully restored three-storey stone farmhouse built into a hill, with an inner courtyard and extensive gardens including olive and fruit trees. All the rooms offer excellent views of the surrounding vines, forests and hills. Four bedrooms accommodate up to eight guests. There is an entrance onto the top floor from the parking area, while on the ground floor, an inner courtyard gives access to the main entrance. This leads into a airy, fully equipped kitchen and a living room with two large comfortable sofas and a raised formal dining area. The views from the sitting room are spectacular. Steps lead up to a mezzanine, where there are additional soft chairs and a television and VCR.

Upstairs on the middle level, there are two bedrooms, each with a pair of twin beds. One has a door leading out to the courtyard gardens. Also on this level is a family bathroom with a bath and shower and a separate toilet. A spiral staircase leads upstairs to the large master bedroom, which has a queen size bed and an ensuite shower room.

The fourth bedroom is situated off the courtyard; it has a double bed and an ensuite shower and toilet. This bedroom is fully private from the main house, and is perfect for visiting friends, grandparents, or an au pair.

Also in the inner courtyard is a games room, and a covered dining area, which is ideal for outdoor eating. Plants and herbs make this a particularly nice area to relax in. The main garden has an abundance of roses, shrubs and flowers, all cared for by the house gardener. To one side, steps lead down to the orchard, where there are apricot, cherry and olive trees and grape vines. The 5 x 10 metre swimming pool is surrounded by terraces planted with olive trees, and is fenced for safety. To the rear of the pool is a children’s play area; a sandpit and table tennis are also available.

This whole property overlooks the hills and forests, and is not overlooked by other houses. The house is equipped with full central heating, making it ideal all year around.

About the Area
Vaison-la-Romaine
Vaison-la-Romaine
The nearest town, Vaison-la-Romaine, is a ten minute drive away. This bustling Roman town, dominated by its 12th century ruined castle, hosts the region’s most famous market every Tuesday morning. There is a great selection of cafés and restaurants, ranging from basic bistros to Michelin-starred establishments. Vaison-la-Romaine has a great legacy of Roman ruins, including a restored amphitheatre which hosts many events and concerts during summer evenings.
About the Region
The Dentelles de Montmirail
The Dentelles de Montmirail
The Vaucluse is a Côte du Rhône wine producing region rich in history and sunshine. Mont Ventoux, the famous landmark of the Tour de France, is part of the nearby Dentelles de Montmirail range, and offers splendid views over the region and beyond. It’s a short drive to the city of Avignon, the site of the medieval papacy and filled with outstanding Gothic architecture. Still older history is on display in the Roman towns of Vaison-La-Romaine, Carpentras and Orange, all within a twenty kilometre radius, and featuring historical sites and ancient theatres where events are staged through out the summer months.

It’s a little further to the Roman towns of Nîmes, Arles, and Aix-en-Provence, all of which have excellent festivals and museums. Every day there is an excellent market to visit nearby, and the famous town of Isle-sur-Sorgue is a haven of antique dealers and brocante shops. Further afield are the cities of Marseille and Montpellier, the beaches of the Mediterranean sea, the national parks of the Camargue and Vercours, and the canyons of the Ardeche and Verdon rivers - a must for lovers of water sports.
