The living room, with the dining room beyond
Résidence Marella is an attractive three-bedroom apartment on the upper floor of a 19th century building, overlooking the sea in the village of Erbalunga on Corsica’s north-eastern coast. The owners recently fully restored the apartment and decorated it in the traditional style and colours of the Mediterranean. From the front door, 27 steps lead down to the sea and a spot for swimming.

The spacious kitchen is tiled throughout and fully equipped with an electric stove and stovetop, a dishwasher, and a fridge with a freezer compartment.

Next to it is the dining room, with a table to seat up to six. Three steps lead down to a living room, which is furnished with a combination of local antiques and modern furniture, and decorated with works by French artists.

This room has an excellent view over the Mediterranean and the 15th century houses of Erbalunga. There is a TV with French channels, and a fireplace which can be lit on winter evenings.

The three bedrooms are all on the same level as the rest of the apartment. One has a double sofa bed, the second has a pair of single beds, and the third has a set of bunk beds. An additional child can sleep on the sofa in the living room.

Résidence Marella is situated near the centre of the village of Erbalunga. A bakery is just outside the front door for warm croissants every morning. During summer, there are about a dozen restaurants and bars within walking distance. One of them, Le Pirate, has a star in the Guide Michelin.

About the Area
The village of Erbalunga
The village of Erbalunga
Résidence Marella is in the centre of the very attractive traditional village of Erbalunga, which has all of the shops and services needed for day-to-day living. Right next to the apartment is a bakery, which sells fresh croissants every morning. There are many places to swim around the village.

Also in the village is a grocer, a pharmacy, a fishmonger, a souvenir shop, and a tabac. A good friend of the owner, a superb teacher and guide, may be hired for French lessons or guided tours.

A pebbled beach in Erbalunga
A pebbled beach in Erbalunga
Erbalunga has long been known as an artists’ village, who appreciate its attractive Mediterranean light, its seascapes, and its depth of history.

There are many activities available locally. Nearby beaches give good spots for swimming, diving is available in the neighbouring village of Sisco, there are good trails to hike and places to fish, and horseback riding is available at a local farm. Bicycling around the Cap Corse is very popular, and a lot easier than in the more central parts of Corsica.

About the Region
Midsummer celebrations in Bastia
Midsummer celebrations in Bastia
It’s just a ten minute drive to the town of Bastia, which has a wide range of restaurants, and hosts an antique and flea market every Sunday morning. A town of 50,000, Bastia is famous for its wines. It was founded in the 14th century by the Genoese, who have left their mark throughout Corsica, including the “Genoese tower” in Erbalunga. Bastia’s 16th century citadel is a popular attraction; it also features Baroque churches from the time. Bastia has been named one of France's "Villes d'art et d'histoire", and hosts a variety of festivals of music, film, and art during the year. There are many places to swim, and the largest beach on the Cap Corse is just ten minutes north of Erbalunga, at Pietracorbara. 100 kilometers of sandy beaches are waiting to be explored south of Bastia.
