About the Property
The private driveway
The private driveway
Tachau Glas is an old Breton farmstead overlooking its own private meadow, with two separate rental units: the farmhouse, called Antoinette, and a converted longhouse, Janette. Both are two-storey stone buildings, fully renovated and converted. Each has three bedrooms to accommodate up to six guests. The whole property can take up to twelve in comfort.

It is situated in ten acres (4 hectares) of private countryside, with grass, woodland, a well, and a stream – ideal surroundings in which to relax and unwind. This is a good base from which to tour the local historic towns and villages and sample the ciders and wines.

The well on the property

Visitors can enjoy an above-ground 4.5 x 8.5 metre swimming pool which is available from June to September. There is plenty of space for children to play, and they can enjoy flying kites, playing boules, outdoor table tennis or board games, all of which are provided.

The owners live in a separate longhouse on the property. They fully respect the privacy of their guests, but are always available to give advice on the local area, places of interest, sports facilities and restaurants.

The private path to the woods on the property

The longhouse has its own interesting history; it was used by the French Resistance during World War 2 as a hiding place for British and American airmen.

The property abounds with wildlife. Wild deer sometimes feed in the corner of the meadow. A variety of wild flowers includes orchids growing near the stream. Bird lovers can keep an eye out for buzzards, hawks and owls.

Special features: • Pool on the property
• Bilingual assistance available on site
Swimming pool: 4.5 x 8.5 metre above-ground swimming pool with solar heating. June to August.

About the Area
The traditional market hall in La Faouët
The traditional market hall in La Faouët
The nearest town is Le Faouët, which has plenty of shops and services, including banks, restaurants and cafés. The surrounding villages offer a wide range of restaurants, bars, and boulangeries. Many village restaurants serve an excellent four-course mid-day meal with unlimited wine for a very reasonable price. The world famous Buddhist Center at Plouray is under 10 minutes away by car and is open throughout the year to visitors.

The countryside is green and lush with a great choice of woodland and forest walks. The coastline is a mixture of craggy coves and long stretches of sandy beach.

The Nantes-Brest canal
The Nantes-Brest canal
Stroll along the picturesque tow path of the Nantes-Brest canal or along the river Blavet, both of which are close by, as is the magnificent Lac du Guerlédan with its beaches, water sports and restaurants. There is another large swimming and sailing lake at Priziac.

Walking is a great way to see your surroundings and there are many organised rambles for those who like to make new friends along the way. Horse riding, sailing and cruising are other enjoyable options. For those who prefer to explore by car the quiet roads, even in the summer months, make this an enjoyable option.

About the Region
The nearby Chapelle-St-Barbe
The nearby Chapelle-St-Barbe
There is an abundance of markets locally and in the region. At Vannes, the market stalls wind through the ancient cobbled streets, selling flowers, plants, fresh herbs, pâte, cheeses, seafood and fruit. While there, don’t miss the butterfly gardens and aquarium.

The town of Pontivy is only 20 minutes away, with its château, a large market square, chic boutiques and many pavement cafés and restaurants. Hennebont, Vannes, Carnac and Quimper are also well worth visiting and offer medieval architecture, formal gardens and historic sites. The coast is just 45 minutes away.

The town of Rostrenen
The town of Rostrenen
Among the sports available are canoeing, kayaking, sailing, water-skiing, hang-gliding and climbing. There are many opportunities for fishing, on rivers, lakes or on the sea, and there are eight golf courses in Morbihan.

An hour away, Pont Aven has dozens of art galleries, and one can enjoy lunch or dinner overlooking the yachts in the estuary.

The lake at Plouray

Throughout the season there is a wealth of musical events with most villages holding a 'fest noz', a night-time festival with traditional Celtic music and dancing. The 'Bon Repos' festival is held nearby in August with theatre and music, culminating in a lavish fireworks display.

There are many water parks and local lakes, offering pedal and row boat hire, beaches and picnic areas, swings, volleyball courts, and crazy golf. Carnac's ‘Forest Adrenaline' has climbing ropes, adventure sports, and pony trekking.
