Clos Bellevue is a 19th century mas or farmhouse on the outskirts of the village of Cairanne in Provence. With two bedrooms, it is suitable for four guests. If needed, a third bedroom is available at an extra charge for up to six.

At the front, the house looks onto endless vineyards and the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range, and at the back, towards the traditional village.

On the ground floor, the living area has a sofa and two armchairs, and a television with satellite channels. In the dining area, a wooden table seats six. The kitchen includes a gas oven and stovetop, a microwave, and a fridge-freezer.

A bathroom on this level has a shower, basin, and a separate toilet, and also houses the washing machine. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the house and by the pool.

Upstairs are two spacious centrally-heated bedrooms. The green bedroom, at the front of the house, has either a double bed or twin beds. The blue bedroom, at the back, has a pair of twin beds.

The red bedroom, optionally available at extra cost, has a connecting door to the blue bedroom and can be prepared for either one or two guests. Also on the upper floor is a bathroom and separate toilet, accessed from the bedrooms by two short sets of four stairs.

At the back of the house, the courtyard has a shaded terrace with a table and chairs for guests to dine outdoors. The 8x4 metre pool is surrounded by a paved area for sunbathing. Next to it, a covered outdoor kitchen features another dining table and a barbecue, which can be used as an outdoor fireplace on cooler evenings.

The owners, who speak fluent English, Dutch, French, Spanish and German, also live on the premises, and give their guests complete privacy. However, they may share the pool on hot days after 5pm. Parking is available on the property for one or two cars. Pets are welcome with advance notification.

The house is located on the outskirts of the traditional Provençal village of Cairanne in the upper Vaucluse, a stone's throw away from the "Enclave des Papes", a large estate owned by the Papacy from the middle ages until the 19th century. The village is surrounded by Côtes du Rhône vineyards.

The centre of the new part of the village has a bakery, supermarket, a bar, and a few excellent restaurants. The old village has been beautifully restored as it was when the Templar Knights lived here in the 12th century; some of the old walls are still present.

The surrounding area is great for cycling lovers and bicycles can be rented in the vicinity. (The owners can arrange this on request.) Tennis courts are available in St. Cecile-les-Vignes, and horseback riding in Tullette, both within five kilometres. A 9-hole golf course near Orange, 15 minutes' drive, offers equipment rentals and very reasonable green fees.

A series of concerts called 'Jazz dans les vignes' (Jazz among the vines) takes place during the summer months at a variety of vineyards in the surrounding area; one can enjoy the music and sample the local wines at the same time.

The region is full of ancient Roman heritage, from when it was a province of the empire. The cities of Orange and Vaison-la-Romaine both contain many Roman ruins.

Plan to see the famous Théâtre antique d’Orange (Ancient Theatre of Orange) during your stay. During the summer, the theatre often features performances by renowned opera singers. Vaison-La-Romaine is also famous for its market, held every Tuesday. Closer to the house, the Saturday market at Saint-Cecile-les-vignes, five kilometres away, takes place on Saturdays. The town of l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue hosts an antique market on Sunday, and also has a great variety of antique shops.

Within less than 45 minutes' drive, there is a choice of 18-hole golf courses, including the Grand Avignon which faces Mont Ventoux, Châteaublanc, and the Provence Country Club, designed by former French number one, Jean Garaiaide.

The summer weather is in the region is typically warm and dry, with temperatures varying from 20-25 C in May and June, to 25-35 C in July and August. At times the famous Mistral and Tramontana winds may blow, bringing some pleasant coolness.
