From and to the Airports

When arriving in France by air, you should inquire as to where you will land in Paris, based on the airline you are flying with. You are likely to arrive at one of the terminals of the Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, located 25 km north of Paris, where a number of buses and taxis will be waiting. Taxis can accommodate a maximum of three passengers and can only handle luggage that is neither bulky nor cumbersome. Buses (the Roissybus) leave every 15 minutes from terminals 1, 2 and T9 and take you to the Opéra stop, a downtown location. The trip takes from 45 to 60 minutes. You can opt for the Rapid Subway (RER), a short distance away by shuttle bus. Check the RER map first. The RER B (B line) will take you across Paris, with multiples stops, from the "Gare du Nord" station, on the north side of the city (a 25 minute trip), to "Denfert-Rochereau", at the southern edge (a 35 minute trip). The RER B line finishes in the southern suburb of Saint-Rémy les Chevreuses. If you wish, you can even take a high speed train (TGV) to Lyon, Lille, Rennes or Bordeaux. If you need assistance on how to use the subway or the RER, the Subway Navigator can be of great help by organizing your itinerary and determining where you should get off and connect to another line, if needed.

If you land at Orly Airport, located 20 km south of Paris, taxis will equally be waiting. You can also hop in the Orlybus leaving from the South and West terminals and going to Denfert-Rochereau, on the southern edge of the city. The Rapid Subway C line (RER C) will take you through Paris to the northern destination of Montigny, stopping at many stations on the way.

More information on public transport from and to the airports, including stops, fare and timetable, is available from the the RATP (Régie autonome des transports parisiens). As well, you may also want to familiarize yourself with the RER grid and stations before you go.

The airports are also serviced by the train system. This may be important if you are traveling from the airport to a destination other than Paris. For more information on routes, timetables and fares, consult the Train service guide to and from airports prepared by the French National Rail Service (SNCF).
