About the Holiday Home

The Willow Tree is a spacious apartment on the ground floor of a large renovated villa in the heart of Provence. With two double bedrooms, it is ideal for a family or two couples. The house is set in a large garden with a swimming pool that is heated from May to October. The owners live on the property too, so are available to help guests if necessary, and share the use of the pool and garden.

The apartment has its own entrance via a private courtyard garden. It opens into a large kitchen/dining/living space.

Large windows open onto the garden terraces on both sides of the living area, giving the room a sense of light and space. Cream coloured tiles add to the natural light of the apartment.

The large master bedroom features a spacious queen sized bed. The second bedroom has a double bed. Both have bathrooms complete with large walk-in showers.

The house is surrounded by fields and orchards with no immediate neighbors. From the outside terrace, enjoy the view of the garden under the pergola strewn with roses, wysteria and sweet smelling jasmin.

The swimming pool, fenced for safety, is exposed to the warmth of the sun and has a shaded deck area with lounge furniture.

The kitchen is fully fitted with all modern conveniences, a dishwasher, coffee maker, oven, hob/stovetop and microwave.

Next to the kitchen is a dining area with a table to seat six, a wood burning stove in the corner, and various paintings and soft furnishings to create a welcoming environment.

Where to Go, What to Do

The local town of Le Thor has a good range of shops and services, with a tourist information in its centre, bakeries, grocery shops, bars and restaurants. There is a fresh produce market every Wednesday and Saturday. It is possible to walk into town following the scenic route across the river bridge (20 minutes) or rent one of our bicycles and cycle there. There are no challenging hills so this is very pleasant cycling. There are tennis courts close by that can be used, and lots of walking trails.

The famous pretty town of l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is only a ten minute drive, where there is a large selection of restaurants, cafés and boutique shops. This town is best known for its famous antique markets, including a large brocante market every Sunday.

Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in the Luberon area of Provence, is only 30 minutes from the apartment

This area of France is blessed with natural beauty. There are endless possibilities for day trips to authentic Provencal towns and villages in the Luberon, Les Alpilles, the towns of Avignon and St Remy and the area surrounding the famous Mont Ventoux.

The Avignon theatre festival runs throughout the month of July and can be easily accessed by train from the local station in Le Thor. The magnificent Roman structures of La Pont du Gard and the famous amphitheatre in Orange are only an hour's drive, with the wild nature reserve of La Camargue and the sandy beaches on the Cote d'Azur being only an hour and a half away.
